Job Overview
The CAMHS Crisis/MARRS (Mental Health Assessment and Response Service) Consultant is responsible for providing urgent assessments and crisis interventions for children and young people experiencing acute mental health crises. Based on-site at Sowenna, Bodmin, this role requires a high level of expertise in risk assessment, crisis management, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct urgent mental health assessments for children and adolescents in crisis, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
- Work on-site as part of the MARRS crisis team, providing rapid response services to young people in acute distress.
- Develop and implement risk management and care plans, working closely with emergency departments, inpatient units, and community teams.
- Provide consultation, clinical leadership, and supervision to junior doctors and mental health professionals.
- Liaise with schools, social services, and primary care teams to ensure coordinated care and early intervention strategies.
- Support Mental Health Act assessments, ensuring legal and ethical compliance in crisis care.
- Engage in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance crisis intervention services.
Requirements
- S12 Approved Clinician (AC preferred or working towards).
- Full GMC registration with CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or within six months of completion).
- Strong experience in CAMHS crisis care, risk assessment, and emergency mental health services.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to work on-site only (remote working is not available).
