Consultant Geriatrician
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Geriatrician to provide high-quality care for elderly patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex geriatric conditions, ensuring a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage geriatric patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments, including cognitive and frailty assessments.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to develop tailored treatment plans.
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior doctors and trainees.
- Participate in acute and general medicine ward rounds and contribute to improving geriatric services.
- Engage in quality improvement, research, and teaching activities.
- Ensure compliance with GMC and NHS standards for geriatric care.
Requirements
- Evidence of entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT at the time of the interview.
- Extensive experience in geriatric medicine, including acute, rehabilitation, and community care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills.
- Previous experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives is desirable.
