Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant Rheumatologist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing expert care for patients with rheumatological conditions. The role involves the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a variety of autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outpatient clinics for the assessment and management of patients with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, osteoporosis, and other rheumatologic conditions.
- Lead multidisciplinary team discussions, collaborating with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, specialist nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, including blood investigations, imaging (X-rays, MRI, ultrasound), and synovial fluid analysis.
- Administer and monitor biologic therapies and other disease-modifying treatments.
- Participate in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance patient care.
- Engage in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the rheumatology department.
- Supervise and provide training to junior doctors, specialist nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Provide inpatient consultation services for patients referred from other specialties.
- Contribute to medical education and training programs within the hospital.
Requirements
- GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register in Rheumatology (or within 6 months of CCT).
- Experience in managing a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
- Competence in joint and soft tissue injections.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Experience in service development and quality improvement is desirable.
- Commitment to teaching and training junior medical staff.
