Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Oncology Consultant to join our dynamic oncology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing specialist oncology care, including radiotherapy, systemic therapies, and patient management for a wide range of malignancies. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, active participation in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and contribution to service development and clinical research.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert oncology care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of cancer patients.
- Deliver radiotherapy and systemic treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy) as per evidence-based protocols.
- Participate in MDT meetings to discuss patient cases and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, medical trainees, and other healthcare professionals within the oncology unit.
- Engage in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, palliative care teams, and other specialists to provide holistic cancer care.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with national guidelines and hospital protocols.
- Contribute to teaching and training programs for medical staff and students.
- Participate in on-call rotas and emergency oncology care as required.
Requirements
- FRCR (Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists) or equivalent qualification.
- Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Clinical Oncology or within six months of receiving a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
- Substantive experience in oncology practice, radiotherapy planning, and systemic treatments.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to service development.
