Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and qualified Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our well-established and friendly team, providing psychological input to two Older Adult Wards at The Harbour in Blackpool. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including direct and indirect clinical work, systemic interventions, consultation, research, audit, and clinical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions for older adults experiencing mental health difficulties, including dementia.
  • Deliver consultation, training, and support to staff teams, ensuring best psychological practices in patient care.
  • Engage in individual and group-based therapies, working closely with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to service development, research, and audit, enhancing the quality of care provided.
  • Work collaboratively within the advanced care (older adult mental health) and dementia wards to promote patient well-being.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (HCPC registered).
  • Experience in mental health services, preferably with older adults.
  • Strong skills in psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation within multidisciplinary settings.
  • Interest or experience in working across the lifespan and supporting families and staff teams.
  • Ability to lead on service improvement, research, and audits.
