CHC Appeals Nurse (Band 8b)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced CHC Appeals Nurse (Band 8b) to lead the Continuing Healthcare (CHC) appeals process, including conducting formal CHC appeals meetings, completing retrospective Decision Support Tools (DSTs), and preparing Needs Portrayal Documents. The role requires expertise in CHC eligibility assessments, case reviews, and ensuring compliance with NHS frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in formal CHC appeals meetings, reviewing eligibility decisions.
- Complete retrospective DSTs and Needs Portrayal Documents to support fair and accurate case reviews.
- Provide expert clinical input in appeal reviews, panel hearings, and dispute resolutions.
- Liaise with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a transparent and patient-centered process.
- Ensure compliance with NHS Continuing Healthcare policies and national frameworks.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Extensive experience in NHS CHC assessments, appeals, and case management.
- Strong knowledge of CHC legislation, national frameworks, and clinical assessment tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
