Job Overview
We are seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) with expertise in dysphagia management to work with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves assessing, diagnosing, and providing interventions for infants with feeding and swallowing difficulties, ensuring safe and effective feeding development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support neonatal care and optimize long-term outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess and manage feeding and swallowing difficulties in preterm and medically complex infants.
- Develop and implement individualized feeding plans in collaboration with the NICU team.
- Provide specialist advice and training to parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
- Monitor progress, adjust interventions, and contribute to discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate records and participate in service development within neonatal care.
Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (HCPC registration required).
- Experience in dysphagia assessment and management, preferably within neonatal or paediatric settings.
- Strong understanding of infant feeding development and NICU protocols.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
