Consultant Geriatrician - Medicine
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Geriatrician to join our Medicine team, providing expert care for elderly patients with complex medical needs. The successful candidate must have evidence of entry on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of attaining CCT at the time of interview.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care for elderly patients, including managing multi-morbidity, frailty, and geriatric syndromes.
- Provide leadership in the multidisciplinary care of older patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development within Geriatrics.
- Participate in on-call rotas as required, ensuring appropriate care for acutely unwell elderly patients.
- Engage in teaching, research, and development within the field of Geriatrics and the wider Medicine department.
Requirements
- Full GMC registration with entry on the Specialist Register in Geriatrics or within 6 months of attaining CCT.
- Clinical experience in Geriatrics, with a focus on frailty, multi-morbidity, and complex geriatric care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills.
