Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Band 8A) to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering advanced, patient-centered care, assessing, diagnosing, treating, and referring patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions. This is a non-negotiable Band 8A position offering a high level of clinical responsibility and autonomy in a dynamic clinical environment.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
- Provide advanced and comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients attending the Urgent Treatment Centre with undifferentiated and undiagnosed health issues.
- Act autonomously in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients, ensuring safe management and appropriate referrals or discharges.
- Maximise patient health, reduce unnecessary admissions to acute services, and contribute to the development of effective care pathways.
- Prescribe safely and effectively as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber in accordance with trust guidelines.
- Ensure all documentation and records are accurate and maintained in line with trust policies.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide professional, advanced clinical support and advice to nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Act as a role model within the multi-disciplinary team, setting standards for clinical practice and interpersonal skills.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of clinical systems and processes within the UTC.
Autonomous Professional Practice:
- Practice autonomously and confidently, taking direct responsibility for a patient caseload, ensuring the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans are implemented effectively.
- Utilize a wide range of clinical skills and knowledge to manage patients and determine appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Clinical Development:
- Maintain and enhance clinical knowledge by keeping up to date with treatment guidelines and practices within your field.
- Participate in clinical audits and support the development of new departmental guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide specialist advice and support to patients and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Be flexible in working across multiple sites to ensure service continuity.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RN Adult) with active NMC registration.
- Extensive professional development and advanced clinical knowledge.
- Minor Injury/Illness qualification and experience in handling complex patient conditions.
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
- **Ability to study and work at Masters Level and successfully complete associated training and modules.
- Patient Assessment Module at an advanced practice level.
