Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stroke Consultant to join a multidisciplinary stroke team, providing expert care in the management of acute and rehabilitative stroke services. The role involves leading stroke care pathways, including hyperacute stroke management, thrombolysis/thrombectomy services, and post-stroke rehabilitation, while contributing to service development, teaching, and research.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Oversee the assessment, diagnosis, and management of stroke patients, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Hyperacute & Acute Stroke Care: Participate in thrombolysis and thrombectomy decision-making and lead ward-based stroke care.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with neurologists, therapists, radiologists, and rehabilitation teams to optimize stroke patient outcomes.
- Teaching & Research: Contribute to training junior doctors, medical students, and allied health professionals while engaging in research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Service Development: Play an active role in enhancing stroke pathways, governance, and stroke unit performance.
Requirements
- GMC Specialist Registration in Stroke Medicine or Neurology/Geriatrics with Stroke expertise (or within 6 months of attaining CCT at the time of interview).
- Expertise in stroke thrombolysis/thrombectomy decision-making and stroke rehabilitation.
- Experience in leading and developing stroke services.
