Job Overview
This role is for doctors in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) who are eligible for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). The position provides an opportunity for internationally trained O&G specialists or non-CCT route candidates to work towards GMC Specialist Registration, enabling them to apply for substantive consultant roles in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Expertise: Provide comprehensive care in both obstetrics and gynaecology, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, as well as gynaecological procedures.
- Surgical & Procedural Skills: Perform caesarean sections, instrumental deliveries, hysterectomies, and emergency obstetric care with competency equivalent to UK-trained specialists.
- Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, anaesthetists, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe maternal and gynaecological care.
- Training & Supervision: Support the education of junior doctors, midwives, and medical students in obstetric and gynaecological procedures.
- Quality Improvement & Research: Participate in clinical audits, governance activities, and contribute to research in women’s health.
Requirements
- Eligibility for RCOG CESR: Evidence of training and experience equivalent to a UK CCT in O&G.
- GMC Registration (or eligibility to apply).
- Extensive experience in obstetric and gynaecological procedures, including emergency management.
- Previous experience in the UK NHS system.
- Teaching, research, and leadership experience in O&G.
